My master artist for this piece was John Singer Sargent, I used one of his charcoal drawings for an example of how the piece should be situated and the proportions of a drawn human face. My modern artist was Polina Washington, I used one of her pieces from her Light and Color Workshop. I used this piece as an example of how the lighting would work when put with a person as the subject. This piece fits into my inquiry question because people turn their backs to problems when they are brought to light. Through doing that it casts us into shadow and makes the world we see so much darker and muddled in shadow. This piece I decided to do digitally even though I’m still learning how to make digital art, because I need the practice and I thought that the aspects of the changeable layers can help me create even stronger effects and more detail in the lighting with less fear of mistakes. Originally, this piece was just a dootle that I had drawn on my iPad while in my history class. I ended up really liking the piece so I took it a few steps further and added color and some lighting. When I had shown it to my art teacher she said I could try to convert it to realism and put it in my portfolio. About thirteen hours I spent on this piece, ten of those I spent on converting it from animated to a more realistic design.
